Selva Negra Estate Coffee (two roast profiles available, Nica (Light) Roast or Dark Roast)

Our specialty house coffee, from the Kuhl Family plantation. Selva Negra coffee is shade grown in the highlands of Nicaragua in the Matagalpa region by the owner, Heddy Kühl's, family. Selva Negra is Rainforest Alliance certified coffee.

The quintessential Nicaraguan Estate coffee has a perfect triangular balance of body, flavor and acidity. Selva Negra is a micro region in the Matagalpa area with a very unique soil and climate. This coffee is highly dependant on the roast.

A lighter roast will bring out a milk chocolate brightness with some berry overtones while a darker roast tends to accentuate a bittersweet chocolate with a velvet finish. The depth of this cup tends to increase as the coffee cools.
 

A blend of South American coffees accentuating mild sweet flavors and low acidity, gives us a smooth earthy and nutty cup of joe that is perfect for a pre breakfast and easy going on the tummy.
 

A very full-bodied Estate Columbian, with an almost buttery texture. Dark chocolate overtones with a sweet balanced acidity. Our green bean broker's top Colombian this year.
 

An African favorite. A very floral aroma marks an excellent Yirgacheffe. Medium-bodied coffee supports sweet spicy lower notes, with high delicate jasmine flavors on top. A seductive coffee that lures you back, again and again. Our Full-City roast brings out these subtle nuances.
 

This blend features a unique combination of three different roast colors. Very dark roasted Selva Negra Estate for richness and intense flavor, then add a bit of Monsooned Malibar to give depth and body, and finally throw in a secret third bean for a touch of intensity and you get one powerful cup of coffee.
 

Darker roasting brings out a rich caramel aroma and sweet dark chocolate, citrus-like acidity in this delightful in this Rainforest Alliance certified coffee. This new roast profile of our own Selva Negra Estate coffee proves to be a shop favorite. The high altitude that we grow the cooffe at allows us to take it to high roast temperatures while maintaining great flavor without the "Char-bucks" aftertaste.

We started with a traditional Italian recipe by including a blend of beans that give us building blocks to intense body, color, crema, and taste. We have added a bit of high quality robusta to make sure this blend can offer you the caffeine support you need, we roast it differently than any of our other coffees (specifically for high pressure brewers), and with age it perfectly. This espresso brewed properly become the essence of coffee!
